Winter Gathering, by Mark Shelton
Winter Gathering
Crow Woman has gathered twigs for her pit-fire inside the teepee. This multi-media work captures the beauty of the Montana Apsaroke winter camps and the strength of the Apsaroke women. Mark has meticulously layered exotic papers for texture and light effects.
Acrylic pours, speciality papers to include: blue tamarind leaf (the sky), Japanese ogura lace (sage), banana trees bark (trees), Thai mango leaf and African handmade papers (teepee), Chiri and various Japanese lace papers (snow.) Inspired by the Edward S. Curtis' 1909 photograph, Winter - Apsaroke.
